[PLUS8122] Bryan Zentz – D-Clash (Matador Remix)

Originally released on Carl Cox’s Intec label, ‘D-Clash’ was part of Bryan Zentz’s Seven Breaths album debut in 2003. A tribute to the Yamaha TX81Z synth and its famous “Lately Bass” preset that personified Detroit techno for Zentz, the track was Zentz’s attempt to compose something that captured his first experience of driving into the Motor City and seeing the skyline, combining a harder contemporary loop vibe with a classic Detroit sound.

‘D-Clash’ is now given a second life on Plus 8 via this remix by Plus 8/Minus’s Irish newcomer Matador, who re-discovered the track whilst searching for inspiration from his favourite records one night in his studio. At the suggestion of his friend & fellow producer Perc, he decided to rework the track, which now sees a release with the blessing of the original’s creator.

Zentz: “Im really excited that Matador gave D-Clash a new life. He kept things intact but put it in a new perspective and context – a proper remix for sure. I already liked his music from Sleaze and Trapez, so its great to hear his take on it and have it released on Plus 8!”
