Q is for Quarantine Chronicles ⚠️

When lockdowns took over, Paul Hartnoll of Orbital and poet Murray Lachlan Young documented the highs, lows, and absurdities of isolation with The Virus Diaries.

From the escape of Garden Centre, the panic of I’m Going Shopping, to the chaos of Home Schooling, and the DIY haircuts of I Need a Haircut—this collection blends beats and wit to turn quarantine life into something unforgettable.

Garden Centre features a familiar set of chords and beats that would later resurface in Are You Alive with Penelope Isles, tying together different moments in Orbital’s sonic evolution.

The Home Schooling video features Michael Chambers (Turbo from Breakdance/Breakin’), a nod to the film’s electro roots. In true quarantine fashion, the idea was that he was teaching a father and daughter to breakdance, bringing some old-school moves into lockdown life.
